Basic Ops Flashcards
Basic operations
Standing on a line
Pulling a running line
Breaking a 4 inch coupling
Making a 4 inch coupling
First fold of a forward hose lay
Pulling a fold
Folds at the objective
folds are laid away from the objective and toward the source of supply, this places nozzle and couplings in the proper position for advancing
Nozzles
when grounded, the hose is straightened for at least 5’ behind the nozzle
pulling folds
used to place additional hose on the ground behind the apparatus, arm shall be straight
stealing hose from the lay
taking hose away from the firefighting phase of the hose lay (pulling hose back toward the source of supply)
sufficient slack
provide sufficient slack hose on the ground to begin hose lay
work area
3’ from Side of duals and 10’ from rear of tailboard
pulling a running line 4”
used to provide coupling to the work area
first fold of a foward lay 2.5”
provide the first section of 2.5” hose on the ground behind the apparatus, when hose is needed in front of the apparatus tailboard.
pulling folds (after first fold of a forward lay)
used to place additional hose on the ground behind the apparatus for the purpose of advancing couplings
