All LAFD vehicle operators are expected to operate and drive in a courteous manner with
due regard for the public

look for an available LAFD member who can assist you as a safety spotter, if not, consider LAPD if on scene
The maximum speed while backing apparatus for both heavy and light vehicles is
idle speed with foot covering the brake pedal
Flashlights shall be used for additional safety during
nighttime hours
If no one is available to assist the driver shall
exit the vehicle and perform a 360 evaluation, ensure clearance and path of travel is clear
Bell signals
1 bell STOP
2 bells FORWARD
3 bells REVERSE
