Bar professional training course
What does the course consist of?
Case prep, opinion writing + legal research, drafting documents, conference skills, negotiation, advocacy, knowledge which includes litigation, criminal litigation, sentencing + evidence.
Evaluation of training process
Students must pay fees
Very few spaces
Their role:
Work from a set of chambers (15-20 barristers)
After 10 years they can apply to the Queens counsel (mainly focus on advocacy)
Have full rights of audience
Complaints process:
About: negligence
Regarding: written advice received, negligent advocacy in court
Complain in house first
Then the legal ombudsman and then bar standards board
