A
  • cardiac: cardiomyopathy (heart failure), abdnomal ventric remodeling (hypertrophy), afib
  • pulmonary: astha, sleep apnea, hypoventilation syndrome
  • kidneys: decreased renal perfusion
  • GU: urinary incontinence, infertility
  • integ: infection,m hyperkeratosis
  • vascular: increased total blodo volume, altered stroke volume and CO, HTN
  • MSK: OA
  • adipose tissue: increase production of adipokines
  • liver: non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, NASH
  • pancreas: insulin resistance, T2DM

male and female obesity numbers

A
  • waist circumference > 40 for men and > 36 in for women considered indicative of central obesity
  • waist to hip ratio > 1.0 in males and > 0.85 in female suggestive of central obesity
  • want peripheral fat distribution (pear shape or gluteofemoral obesity) in women - associated with lower relative incidence of obesity related risk factors than apple shape/central fat distribution
