This is because of the proximity to water/city and the boiler room was no longer needed.
2. cooperage (making barrels) into commercial and office space. rum was no longer needed in large production.
3. distillery (making rum) turned into residential housing (UC) which happened bcs rum was no longer produced so largely, and the buildings had lovely views, and there was proximity to city and CBD

A

lack of roads and empty land was apparent, with industrialisation seen through warehousings and shipping. most buildings began to be removed and underwent gentrification, however some evidence of heritage buildings are clear through those that weren’t gentrified. in the end, lots of gentrification, more recreational boats and green soace.
