Q

Outline the procedure and findings of the rabbit task.

A

Infant looked for an average of 33 seconds at the imposible event whereas only looked for 27 seconds at the possible event.Which she then interpreted that baies were suprised at the impossible event. She observed 24 babies from 4-6 months. They watched a tall and short rabbit move behind a screen. In the impossibel event no rabbit was shown behind the window.

Q

One strength of Baillargeons research is that it is methodogically strong.

A

She used standardised procedures and controlled for potential effects of extraneous varibales such as the influence of the caregivers.Caregivers closed their eyes and didnt interact with the baby. This helped to improve reliablity because all babies had the same caregiver experience.

Many researchers have sugested that infants may look at the impossible task for any numbers of reasons for example the babies may stare longer due to the bright colours or toys.
