Ostinato rhythms form the basis of two short musical motifs (x and y) which consist almost totally of quavers and semi-quavers.

Flute, string orchestra and harpsichord. Harpsichord player reads from the cello line (LH notes) and fills in chords with RH.
Melody
Both motifs begin with an anacrusis. X is disjunct. Y is disjunct and conjunct. Trills, appoggiaturas and sequences are used.
