A

Attachment (Proximal): Occipital bone, nuchal ligament, and spinous processes of lower cervical and all thoracic vertebrae

Attachment (Distal): Clavicle, acromion, and scapular spine

Innervation: CN XI (Accessory n.)

Action: Elevates (superior fibers), depresses (inferior fibers), and retracts (middle fibers) the scapula
