Back Flashcards
what are the attachments of this muscle?
superior nuchal line and external protuberance of occiput, nuchal ligament, C7 -T12 spinous process, spine of scapular, acromion, lateral 1/3rd of clavicle
what are the 3 parts of trapezius? what do they do?
descending - elevates shoulder, extends neck, laterally flexes head and neck
transverse - retracts shoulder
ascending - depresses shoulder
(shoulder aka pectoral girdle - these movements are at the sterno-clavicular and acromio-clavicular joints)
what nerve innervates trapezius?
accessory
what are the attachements of lat dorsi?
T7 - L5, 9th-12th ribs, iliac crest (and lumbar spinous processes) via throaco-lumbar fascia, interbecular groove humerus
where does the thoracodorsal nerve branch from?
what are the actions and innervations of these muscles?
elevate (superior) and depress(inferior) ribs
innervation anterior rami of spinal nerves
what nerve innervates these muscles as well as levator scapulae?
dorsal scapular
what are the attachments of splenius capitis and cervicis (colli)
what 3 muscles make up erector spinae?
spinalis(capitis, colli and thoracis) , longissimus (capitus, colli and thoracis) and iliocostalis (colli, thoracis and lumborum)
where are these muscles in relation to the rest of the paravertebral muscles?
deepest - note semispinalis has 3 parts (capitis, cervicis and thoracis)
what is this muscle?
quadratus lumborum
what are all the deep muscles of the back (splenius, erector spinae and semispinalis) supplied by?
posterior rami of spinal nerves
