Where does photosynthesis
take place in a plant?
=In the leaves in the chloroplasts.
Describe how this structure in
the plant is adapted to carry out
photosynthesis. (give 4)
1) the small holes-stomata to allow gases in and out
2) Palisade cells contains lot of chloroplasts with chlorophyll to absorb sunlight.
3) Xylem vessels carry food and transports water
4) leave’s mesophyll at the top to get as much sunlight
Why is photosynthesis important?
=because it releases oxygen needed for organisms and it also produces glucose which is an ENERGY SOURCE for the plants which is part of the food chain.
What is photosynthesis?
=plants making their food.
What do plants need? (4)
1)- Sunlight – the plants source of energy
2)-Chlorophyll – the green pigment which
makes plants look green found in
chloroplasts.
3)Water – travels up from the roots.
4)Carbon dioxide – diffuses in through the holes in the leaves, called stomata.

=Chlorophyll is a green pigment which gives leaves their green colour and can be found in chloroplasts.
How does chloroplasts occur?
=Chloroplast occurs in big numbers in palisade mesophyll cells.
Summarise the process of photosynthesis
=Photosynthesis is a chemical reaction that takes place in chloroplasts of palisade cells where light energy is used to convert carbon dioxide and water to glucose and oxygen.

Light intensity experiment.
get beaker and add sodium hydrogen carbonate solution to a beaker and add pondweed but trim the top before you do put it in and ensure pondweed is full yin the solution allow five minutes for pondweed to adjust and get use to the solution then place. ur beaker 10 cm away from light source (lamp) and record bubbles being released in 60 secs then place light source 20cm away and repeats these steps until you have gotten to 40cm and record results and find mean.
