What does a transect involve?

1. Run a tape measure between two fixed points.
2. Start at one end and collect data.
3. Move along the tape measure and collect data again.
4. Keep collecting data until the other end is reached.

This is a square frame with 100 smaller squares inside.

What does a quadrat do?

Answer 3

It can find the percentage distribution of species’ by seeing the amount of squares they take up, (ie- more than one half square counts).

These are a series of questions which narrow down what a species could be until the species is identified.

This is a sensor which accurately measures the light intensity so when seeing how light changes the species distribution over a set area this can be used.
