b4 Flashcards
what do plants use for there source of energy
plants use light
what is the reaction plants use to trap light energy is called
photosynthesis
is Photosynthesis an endothermic and exderthermic reaction
endothermic reaction because it takes in energy
where does Photosynthesis take place in a plant
the leaves
what do the leaves of the plant contains
a green substance chlorophyll chlorophyll can absorb light energy
what’s the word equation for Photosynthesis
carbon dioxide + water with little light (chlorophyll) glucose + oxygen
what happens if we only keep increasing the light intensity in Photosynthesis
the rate of Photosynthesis will no longer increase due to the light intensity bing the limiting factor
what can effect the rate of Photosynthesis
the amount of chlorophyll in the leaf
name off the Photosynthesis limiting factor
Light intensity, carbon dioxide concentration and temperature
what happens if we keep on increase the temp
the enzyme will denature and the rate of Photosynthesis will fall
what is use for the glucose
to release energy in respiration
were does respiration take place
in the mitochondria
glucose produced by Photosynthesis is to produce
the insoluble storage molecule starch
when can the starch be converted
it can be converted back to glucose at night by the plant when it is needed
what is cellulose
is in the plant wall which gives it strength
does glucose prudence amino acids
yes
to make amino acid from glucose what do the plant need to do
absorb nitrate ions from the soil
why is a LED light used in the Photosynthesis practical
because it dissent use that much heat to much heat will change the temp of the experiment
if we use a normal light what do we have to do in the Photosynthesis practicle
we have to put a beaker of water in form of the light it aborbs the heat of the lamp
Photosynthesis practical
we place a led light source at the end of the ruler at 0 cm and the boiling tube at 10cm we fill it up with sodium hydrogen carbonate solution which release carbon dioxide with needed for Photosynthesis then we place a bit of pondweed in the boiling tube with a cut end on it then we now leave it for 5 mins we should see bubble of mass being produced fro the end of pondweed the glass is oxygen with is produced by Photosynthesis the we get a stop watch and count the amount of bubble produced in one minute we repeat it 2 time at calculate the whole mean from it then reap the whole thing again at 20cm 30cm and 40cm
what are the problems pf the Photosynthesis practical
the bubble might be tp fast to count accurately the bubble are not the same size
what do we use if we want to find the right amount of bible produced in the Photosynthesis practical
we use a measuring cylinder and a funnel and we acth the bubble in the measuring cylinder filled with water the use the measuring cylinder to calculate the value of it produced
is respiration and endothermic or a exothermic reaction
its a exothermic because it relates energy
is aerobic respiration using oxygen or without oxygen
oxygen
aerobic respiration reales a
grat deal of energy because the glucose molecule has been fully oxidised
when there’s a shortage of oxygen muscle cells repair
anaerobically
does anaerobic respiration release oxygen
no it docent
does anaerobic respiration release more or less energy
less energy
why in anaerobic respiration releases less energy then aerobic respiration
its because in anaerobic respiration the oxidation if glucose if incomplete
where can anaerobic respiration also take place in
in plants and yeast
the word equation for aerobic respiration
glucose +oxygen gives out carbon dioxide = water
the word equation for anaerobic respiration
glucose gives out lactic acids
when the body needs more energy which type of respirations increases
aerobic respiration
what happens if we are excising to hard
not enough oxygen can be supplied to the muscles and anaerobic respiration takes place
what does the lactic acid make the muscles do
to become more fatigued courses the muscles not storm contrasting efficiently
what does it create when the body has to remove the lactic acid from the muscles
oxygen debt
what is metabolism
its the sum of all chemic reactions in a cell and the body
is respiration a chemical reaction
yes
