B2.2 - Tissues, Organs, and Organ Systems Flashcards
What is differentiation?
Differentiation is the process in which cells become specialised.
When does differentiation occur?
Differentiation occurs during the development of a multicellular organism so that they can perform different functions.
What is the definition of a tissue?
A tissue is a group of cells with a similar structure and function.

What do the tissues do in the stomach?
Muscular tissue, to churn the contents.
Glandular tissue, to produce digestive juices.
Epithelial tissue, to cover the outside and the inside of the stomach.
What is meant by an organ system?
