001 4th of July
¡Ya llegó el 4 de julio!
La mejor de las fiestas, hay banderas, música y festivales.
Para mí, lo mejor son los fuegos artificiales.
Y sabes, el mejor lugar para pasar esta fecha es Washington D.C.
¿Por qué?
Porque puedes ver los fuegos artificiales desde monumentos como el Capitolio o el monumento de Lincoln.
Es una importante fecha para los americanos, ¿no?
Claro que sí, celebran su Independencia.

002 2008 The Year of Languages
¿Sabías que la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas proclamó el 2008 Año Internacional de los Idiomas?
No tenía ni idea, pero ¡qué interesante! Creo que los idiomas son importantes para la comunicación no sólo humana, sino entre gobiernos.
Con esta iniciativa se quiere dar el mismo valor a los seis idiomas oficiales de las Naciones Unidas.
Oye, y ¿cuáles son los seis idiomas oficiales? Sólo sé que dos de ellos son el español y el inglés. Pero, ¿el resto?
Los otros cuatro idiomas son: el árabe, el chino, el francés y el ruso.

Did you know that the General Assembly of the UN proclaimed 2008 International Year of the Languages?
I had no idea, but how interesting! I think that languages are important for not only individual communication, but also among governments.
With this initiative they want to give the same weight to the six official languages of the UN.
Hey, and what are the six official languages? I only know that two of them are Spanish and English. But the rest?
The other four languages are Arabic, Chinese, French, and Russian.
