  • female mosquitoes feed on human blood
  • some plasmodium parasites (which cause malaria) are left in the hosts blood.

it is a result of cells dividing out of control.
the new cells may be odd shapes and form tumours.
benign tumour cells eg warts are slow to divide and harmless.
