Q

What happens during the carbon cycle?

A

Plants take in carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by photosynthesis and they give out carbon dioxide by respiration. When they die the bodies decay by Decomposers who respire releasing carbon dioxide. The carbon found in plants is passed on by feeding. Some carbon is absorbed by oceans. Some dead plants and animals are fossilised which locks in the carbon, so when fossil fuels are combusted the carbon is released back into the atmosphere.
