What are the stages of a drug trial?
Tested using a computer/human cells grown in the laboratory.
Tested on animals.
Clinical trials.
Tested on people with the illness.
Why do we test drugs?
- Toxicity

- Dose
What is a placebo?
- A treatment that appears to be the drug but contains no drug.
- It is used as a control to compare and to check the drug is having an affect.
What is a drug?
- A chemical that alters the body’s chemistry.
- Some are addictive.
What are recreational drugs?
Drugs taken for pleasure.
What are medicinal drugs?
Drugs taken to treat an illness.
What are statins?
Drugs that reduce cholesterol levels.
What adverse effects are caused by Cannabis and what is their legal status?
Mental health problems and it could be a gate-way drug.
The drug is not legal.
What adverse effects are caused by Alcohol and what is their legal status?
Damages liver. This is legal.
What adverse effects are caused by Nicotine and what is their legal status?
Addictive and it is legal.
What affects do cannabis, ecstasy and heroin have on the body?
They affect the heat and circulatory system.
