Q

Describe the nervous pathway.

A

Receptors detect a stimuli and send an impulse along the sensory neurone. A chemical transmitter is then released from the sensory neurone and then crosses a synapse which reaches the relay neurone to get to the central nervous system. The impulse then travels back through the relay neurone to the chemical transmitter which is released from the relay which then crosses the synapse to the motor neurone. The impulse then reaches the effector (gland or muscle) and then produces the response (muscle contracts).

15
Q

What is the function of LH?

A

Causes the egg to be released from the ovaries.

16
Q

What is the function of oestrogen?

A

High levels inhibit production of FSH. Stimulates the production of LH. Causes the womb lining to build up.

17
Q

What fertility treatment is FSH involved in?

A

IVF treatment.

18
Q

What fertility treatment is Oestrogen involved in?

A

Contraceptive pills.

  • Gravity
20
Q

How do shoots grow?

A
  • Toward the light

- Against the force of gravity.

21

A

Auxin.

22
Q

What is phototropism?

A

Movement in response to light.

23
Q

What is gravitropism/geotropism?

A

Movement in response to the force of gravity.

24
Q

What can we use plant hormones for?

A
  • Weed killer.
  • Root Cuttings.
  • Causing fruit to ripen.
