B1.4 (Specialised animal cells) Flashcards
1
Q
When do animal cells differentiate
A
at an early stage of development
2
Q
When do plant cell differentiate
A
All throughout their lives
3
Q
How are nerve cell adapted to their function
A
- Axon which carry their impulse
- Dendrites move connections to other cells
- Myelin Sheath for insulation
- Synapses have a lot of mitochondria so they can make transmitter chemicals so that it can pass impulses
4
Q
How are muscle cells adapted to their function
A
- Special proteins slide over each other
- Contain many mitochondria
- Can store glycogen which can be broken down and used for Respiration
5
Q
How are sperm cell adapted to their functions
A
- Long tail to move through the female productive system
- Middle section with mitochondria which provides energy for the tail
- Nucleus in head for genes to passed on
- Acrosome to break down outer layer of the egg
