Subtypes of FTD
A
Behavioural Variant:
- behavioural and personality changes
- executive functions impaired
- apathy, inhibition and loss of sympathy
Primary Progressive Aphasia:
-primarily language difficulties rather than behavioural
There are other subtypes but these display regions affected well
->different To AD

FTD compared to AD
A
- later onset than AD
- different clinical timeline
- memory loss more prevalent in AD
- pre clinical amyloid build up with no clinical symptoms
- spatial orientation issues are more prevalent in AD
- fewer language issues in AD
- no hallucinations as compared to AD
- atrophy in other brain regions (posterior and hyppocampal regions in AD)
- rare genetic causes
