What is the bottom number of the blood pressure called and what does it show?
Diastolic pressure, it’s shows the blood pressure at its lowest when the heart relaxes.
What is the top number of the blood pressure called and what does it show?
Systolic pressure, it shows the blood pressure at its highest when the heart contracts.
What should a healthy persons blood pressure be?
135/85
What does healthy mean?
Free of any infection or diseases.
What does fit mean?
How well you can perform physical tasks.
What can fitness be measured in?
Stamina, strength, flexibility, speed and agility.
What is stamina a good indication of? And how is it measured?
It is a good indication of cardiovascular efficiency and it is tested by measuring the O2 intake and blood pressure.
What health problems can occur if you have too high blood pressure?
Burst blood vessels which can lead to brain damage, a stroke or kidney damage.
What can naturally decrease blood pressure?
Leading a healthy lifestyle by eating a balanced diet and doing regular exercise.
How do we control blood pressure in extreme cases?
Prescribed drugs.
What happens if you have low blood pressure?
It causes bad circulation which means body tissues don’t get all the O2 and food they need this can lead to tiredness, dizziness or fainting because your brain does not get enough O2 and food.
What happens on e the blood has flowed through the arteries?
It flows through thousands of tiny capillaries which take blood to every cell in the body.
What happens once the blood has been to every cell in the body?
It flows back to heart, through veins, at low pressure.
What can increase your blood pressure?
Smoking
Drinking too much alcohol
Being under stress for long periods of time
Being overweight
