B cell and humoral response - next phase of immunity Flashcards
1
Q
Humoral response
A
Involves antibodies. Antigen enter B cell by endocytosis and presented on surface , T cell bind to these processed antigens activating B cells to divide via mitosis to make clones of plasma cells. Plasma cells secrete antibodies and specific antibody forms a antigen antigen antibody complex .
2
Q
What is the primary response
A
Production of antibodies/memory cells for first time. Very slow and happens when foreign antigen enters for the first time
3
Q
What is the secondary response
A
Memory cell recognizes the same antigen it divides rapidly to T cells and forms plasma cells provide long term immunity
