Why is Sunlight and UV Lighting important in birds?
A
- Important for visual & metabolic health
- UV-B important for VD3 synthesis
- Important for determination of sex of birds and encouraging natural behaviour.

What considerations should be taken when acclimatising birds?
A
- Do it slowly!
- Heaters controlled by thermostats are suitable as you are aware at all times what the exact temperature is
- Central heating not required

Why must the aviary be draught proof?
A
- To stop aviary getting wet/damp
- To stop birds getting cold, bringing temperature down (can’t regulate)
