hospital - Cause of death known, but want to find out a bit more, need consent from relatives
medico-legal - 90% of all autopsies, done on request of the coroner

Coronial autopsies – standard
Forensic autopsies – deaths involving crime

A
- Presumed natural - most common, not seen by dr in 14 days
- Presumed iatrogenic - due to care eg. an operation
- Presumed unnatural eg. suicide, accidents, murders
