Autonomic Nervous System Flashcards
Where the pre-ganglionic axons found in the PSNS?
CN 3, 7, 9, 10
S2-S4
Where are the sympathetic pre-ganglionic axons found?
T1-L2
Where do sympathetic axons pass through to leave the spinal cord?
The white ramus
Which segments have white rami and why?
T1-L2 because that is where pre-ganglionic SNS neurons are located and can only be sent from these segments. Grey rami are found in every segment because the SNS neurons leave the SCG from there
What are three places SNS pre-ganglionic neurons can synapse?
Sympathetic chain ganglion and leave through grey ramus
Pre-vertebral ganglia
Adrenal medulla
What happens when a SNS pre-ganglionic axon passes to the white ramus and leaves the grey ramus?
It synapses in the SCG
What leads into the SCG and what exits it?
White rami
Grey rami
What are the three pre-vertebral ganglion?
Celiac ganglion
Superior mesenteric ganglion
Inferior mesenteric ganglion
