A

a) On Inbound trains (outside of tunnel), Do not enter the Tunnel, advise Train Control before evacuating the service make sure that other services are stopped.
On inbound (Inside the tunnel), Proceed to the platform. The installed fire protection systems may activate enabling a safe evacuation of passengers. On Outbound train. Exit the tunnel whenever possible. Only shut off power in the tunnel if absolutely necessary.
b) The SCC will be responsible for the advising Train Control if a fire has occurred in the building and trains are required to immediately !eave the
station platforms. Inbound trains must not be permitted to enter the tunnel/platform area.

The speed restriction must be entered into OMS.
Then call One rail to reprint all Metro Auckland Advice at all depots to hand out to their drivers (Pukekohe/Papakura and Britomart).
Advise all service in route to the new speed restriction and draw the restriction on the diagram and highlight in pink.

Describe the Axle Counter Reset checks and process if you a track showing as occupied? (6)

A

Confirm the last train is clear and complete.
Initiate Axle counter reset (only available when is red), wait for the track to flash then execute Axle Counter reset.
The track will change colour to orange when the execute has been accepted by the interlocking and now is awaiting a track to be swept by a train.
Contact the Operator of the next movement and instruct them that a “sweep” is going to take place and to call clear and complete of the next signal.

A

Hi Rail vehicles can only on and off track at road level crossings clear of the axle counter heads or in non interlock areas in axle counter areas.

What are warner speed indicators and what speed are trains to travel at? (2)

A

Warner speed indicators are fitted above the top signal unit on each mast. When illuminated, the Warner speed indicator will display a speed in km/h that any train passing that signal must not exceed until the next signal in advance is reached. These indicators are provided to allow a train to approach the next signal due to the overrun distance being reduced due to another train being signaled simultaneously.

Advice the Station Control Centre (SCC) and formulate a plan.

A

Information or special bulletin advice, or if late notification, EF25 may be necessary.
Use orange highlighter to map out the area of power off. In black pen also write PO, reference number (if on bulletin) or EF25 then highlight writing in orange.

A

EF25 will be issued.
In both cases, blocking must be used to stop electric services with their pantographs raised from moving from the live area to the dead area.
TC will endorse this on the graph with orange highlight, and in black pen PO and EF25 which will then be highlighted in orange.

Under what conditions is Vector Xing over New Market Branch to Beach road is allowed to be used? What arrangements must be made when this xing is being used? (2)

A

The Vector Xing between The Strand and Beach Road, cna only be used if Britomart is closed of if blocking has been provided by train control.

A

Train control will arrange
- Isolation of the Overhead.
- Advise the SCC.
- Shutdown the unit and apply park brakes.
- Evacuate passengers within 30 minutes.

A

Detrain all passengers at the first available platform unless conditions require special circumstances arranged by the operator.
