Attention Flashcards

1
Q

Definition of attention:

A
  • Processes that enable a person to recruit resources for processing selected aspects of the incoming sensory information more fully than non-selected aspects.
  • Includes allocating resources to relevant aspects of the environment

Q

What can distractor interference cause?

A
  • Slowed reaction times to targets,
  • Reduced accuracy to targets
  • Changes to trajectories in movements to targets

Q

In the H/E task, what is the conclusion?

A

Q

What are the neural substrates of the three components of shifting attention?

A
  1. Disengagement - damage to parietal lobe results in loss of disengagement.
  2. Movement/shifting - damage to the superior colliculus impedes movement, eye movements also compromised.
  3. Engagement - damage to regions of the thalamus compromises this function.
