Why did defferre’s project fail?

A

Suspicions over his motives as the plan stemmed from outside the boundaries of the Political parties
There was also an Ideological struggle with many people supporting Mollet who stayed honest to the Party’s roots
The MRP had been attracted by Gaullist views too
