architecture:
stoa: rectangular, one solid wall/one columnated (royal stoa)

birth of athena:
athena sprung from Zeus’ head fully armed, removes matriarchal conditions (womanly duties), under male authority –> no ties to motherhhood
competition between athena and poseidon:
cecrops king, recieves gift: poseidon–> salt water well
athena–> olive tree
chose Athena, yet Poseidon not happy cursed water shortage
–> infertile land, patron goddess
theseus:
kill Minotaur, sucessful –> forgets black sails father commits, theseus ends monarchy–> democracy reinforced
education:
not mandatory, all went to age 14, father did not provide education–> no responsibility to support him old
instilled morals, manners and respect for gods young
sons got formal education, girls only concern was domestic duties–> future role
music, language, physical training, arts–> older can learn from sophists/rich
