Async (3) Flashcards
What does somatotopic arrangement mean?
Arranged similarly to anatomic location
Where are the lower extremities of the homunculus located?
Medial
Where are the upper extremities of the homunculus located?
Superiolateral
What is the pathway of the motor neuron?
Upper motor neuron cell body in primary motor cortex goes to the spinal cord tract
Synapses on cell body of lower motor neuron then goes to spinal nerve which goes to peripheral nerve which goes to muscle
What type of system is the conscious sensory tracts?
3 neuron system
What is the pathway of the sensory neuron?
Peripheral receptor in hand travels through peripheral nerve and joins with spinal nerve
Then enters through a tract goes to thalamus and ends in primary somatosensory cortex
How many anterior spinal arteries are there?
1
What does the anterior spinal artery supply?
Anterior 2/3
How many posterior spinal arteries are there?
2
What does the posterior spinal artery supply?
Posterior 1/3
Where is the location of the paravertebral?
Posterior portion of thoracic cavity
Where is the location of the pre vertebral?
Anterior to vertebrae in abdomen area
What do pre and post ganglionic neurons do?
Synapse with eachother in one of the ganglia
Where are the ganglia in the sympathetic nervous system?
Close to spinal cord
Which splanchnics are in the sympathetic nervous system?
Cardiopulmonary and Abdominopelvic
How are the visceral afferents carried in the splanchnics?
From organs to spinal cord
How is the sympathetic carried in splachnics?
From spinal cord to organs
What do splachnics allow?
Neurons to travel in bundles
Where are the ganglia in the parasympathetic nervous system?
Close to the organs (long preganglionic to short post ganglionic)
What splanchics are in the parasympathetic nervous system?
Pelvic
What makes up the diencephalon?

Where do the sympathetic visceral efferent run through?
Vascular
What does cranial nerve 10 carry for every organ in the body?
