Pathophysiology of asthma
Asthma is a condition where your breathing airway called bronchus is sensitive to allergens such as dust, mites, or happens also after a strenuous exercise
That cause bronchus to become narrow and at the same time mucous is produced
Airway is congested with the mucus and constricted airway
Wheezing and breathless
What will happen if I do not puff salbutamol?
As asthma involved the lungs, not compliance to puff can cause level of oxygen in the blood to be extremely Low or the carbon dioxide level is high
Called respiratory failure
Lung become scarred and contributes to lung complication
It affects your sleep and whatever you do. Paroxysmal Nocturnal dyspraxia
Salbutamol puff non compliance forget due to stress
Stress could be factor that cause ur asthma
Forgetful can cause complication
I need help in remember to take my puff?
- So remember to puff twice every time u wake up and before sleep
- Set alarm, make a calendar, put a mark that tell you you have taken your puff
- Enquire family members help to remind
- Handphone for reminder
How does salbutamol help me?
Acts on your lungs to cause dilation of the breathing airway called bronchus.
Remember asthma cause narrowing? Yes this helps in opening up the airway by relaxing your bronchi-bronchodilation
How do I know this puff effective for me?
Do you have follow up with respi doctor?
They will check with peak flow meter where you will be blowing hard into the tube to check how much forced air u actually blow out and we trend it
I find myself having tremors after puff how?
These are side effects such as higher heart rate and tremors
When you experience this remember to book appointment to follow up and highlight to the dr.

Palpitation

How does ipratropium help me.?
Anticholinergic
It also relax your bronchi
Reduce secretion of mucus in bronchi
By blocking the cholinergic stimulation of parasympathetic nervous system
Anticholinergic side effects
Dry mouth
Sensitivity to light-dark glasses
Blurred vision so watchful not to drive or operate machinery
Heatstroke- minimise Long exposure under the sun
Drink lots of fluid
