PaO2 less than 80 mm Hg

Theophylline
Monitor for toxicity level
Side effect include: tachycardia, nausea, diarrhea
Albuterol
Watch for tremors and tachycardia
Ipratropium
Observe for dry mouth
Give hard candy to help relieve and increase fluid intake
Report headache, blurred vision, or palpitations: may be a sign of toxicity
Salmeterol
Used to prevent asthma. Do not use at the onset of an attack
