Assessment Flashcards
1
Q
What are the steps of the Clinical Reasoning Cycle?
A
Consider the person's situation Collect cues and information Process the information Identify problems/issues Establish goals Take action Evaluate outcomes Reflect on process and new learning
2
Q
How do you validate data?
A
Compare objective vs subjective data Clarify ambiguities Start with cues, not inference Double check abnormal data Determine and control for interfering factors Use references to explain phenomena
3
Q
What is diagnostic reasoning, and what are it’s 4 components?
A
Diagnostic reasoning is the process of analysing health data and drawing conclusions to identify health issues or problems. Its 4 components are:
1 - attending to initially available cues
2 - formulating diagnostic hypotheses
3 - gathering additional data relative to the tentative hypotheses
4 - evaluating each hypothesis with the new data collected, thus arriving at a final judgment about the health issue
