What is assertion
Clearly expressing thoughts, feelings and wants in a way that does not attack a receivers dignity
What is passive communication
Inability or unwillingness to express thoughts or feelings in a conflict
Ex. Agrees with others despite personal feelings
Is afraid to speak up
What is aggressive communication
Lashing out to attack source of displeasure
Can result in destructive spiral
Ex. Interrupts or talks over others
Glares and stares at others
What is assertive communication
Facing conflict directly, trying to find solutions that meet needs of everyone in relationship
Ex. Keeps to the point
Speaks openly
