Platelet inhibitor, anti-inflammatory agent
Aspirin - indication
New-onset chest pain suggestive of acute myocardial infarction.
Aspirin - contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Related contraindications in patients with active ulcer disease or asthma
Aspirin - adverse reactions
Heartburn, G.I. bleeding, prolonged bleeding, nausea, and vomiting wheezing patients.
Aspirin - Drug interaction
Use with caution in patients allergic to NSAIDs
Aspirin - how supplied
81-mg, 160-mg, or 325-mg tablets (chewable and standard)
Aspirin - route
Oral (chewable tablets)
Aspirin - dosage and administration
160 mg to 325 mg PO (chewable if possible)
Aspirin - duration of action
Onset: 30-40 minutes. Peak effect: variable. Duration: variable.
Aspirin - special consideration
Pregnancy safety: category D. Not recommended in pediatric population.
