Chest pain, S/S of AMI
Contraindications of Aspirin
hypersensitivity to med. or NSAIDs, bleeding ulcer, hemorrhagic states, hemophilia

metabolized in the liver
Side effects of Aspirin
GI/GU: GI ulcers, stomach bleeding
Resp: Use with caution in pts with asthma. Anaphylaxis
Adult dosage of Aspirin
160-325mg PO, usually four 81mg tablets chewed up
Pediatric dosage of Aspirin
not recommended
OD management of Aspirin
contact poison control, TX symptoms, maintain ABC’s. Initial TX of an acute OD is administrating activated charcoal. Repeated doses of charcoal have been beneficial

Precautions/ Special considerations of Aspirin
Use with caution in pts with peptic ulcers, mild diabetes, or gastritis. Alcohol and/or Warfarin use may increase the risk of bleeding.
Storage requirements of Aspirin
store at room temp 68-77ºF
