Sterilise all apparatus before use, keep lid on as much as possible when preparing, label cultures carefully, keep dish upside-down after preparation, ensure lid is only loosely taped, dispose of used cultures with disinfectant, wash your hands and wipe down surfaces when finished.

What should you not do?

Eat or drink during the experiment, grow microbes that are known to be harmful, mix diff. microbe on same plate, cough or sneeze on the plate, incubate microbes or temp. close to body temp. , unseal or open plate once colony has grown.
