Describe how would would prepare a patient for surgery
Shave
Use dilute antiseptic and a gauze swab to scrub from the centre of the incision outwards in a spiral motion
What are the first steps of scrubbing up? (Completely sterile)
Apply theatre cap and masks
Open glove pack
What is the first application of soap for?
To remove debris from the hands and arms
What is the second step of scrubbing up?
Use a sterile brush and either count strokes/time
How many strokes should be done on the tip of each finger?

Why must you keep your hands above your elbows?
To prevent water touching unsterile skin and dripping to your hands
What must you always do after washing your hands, before you glove?

When closed giving, which way should the gloves face?

How should you dry your hands whilst scrubbing up?
Use sterile paper towels
