Designed to prevent contamination of materials, instruments, utensils, containers during handling

Hand washing
At least 30 seconds
Nails should be scrubbed
Hands and forearms should be washed thoroughly with detergent solutions
Laminar flow hood cleaning
Back to front, away from HEPA filter

Never touch the tip or plunger
0.5 to 60 mL
Do not exceed twice the volume for syringe gradations

Do not tough the bevel
Make sure to enter at an angle (coring)

To prevent vacuum formation
Maintain equal pressure
Breaking an ampule
Clean the neck
Leave swab in place
Use quick, firm, snapping motion away from body towards the side wall of the hood
To withdraw medication from the ampule
Tilt
Place needle in corner space near opening
Do not use a filter needle
To avoid glass contamination in an ampule
Use 5 micron filter needle to filter glass as solution is pushed out of syringe
