- The protagonist character is usually good.
- The protagonist is usually high-born or someone of significance.
- The plot builds around a downturn.
- Unhappy endings - the tragic catastrophe.
- The Protagonist often has some form of self-recognition near the end of the play.
- The audience usually feels sorry and pity for the tragic catastrophe that happens.
