What is the bony landmark for the ASA?
Distal to lateral incisor close to apex of the canine
What is the soft tissue landmark for the ASA?
Height of Mucobuccal fold in area of lateral incisor and canine
What is the orientation for the ASA?
Same as if a buccal infiltration
What is the needle depth for ASA?
Short needle 25mm
10-15mm
What is the target nerve for the ASA?
Anterior Superior Alveolar Nerve
Which structures get anaesthetised in a ASA
Pulp tissue, alveolar bone, connective tissue, PDL and buccal gingiva corresponding to the canine, lateral incisor and central incisor on ipsilateral side of injection
What are the precautions/considerations for the ASA?
ASA may be referred as the infraorbital nerve block. (not covered technique
- we are blocking the ASA only as it runs laterally to mesially through the anterior wall of maxillary sinus
