It’s a social service helping people to live and thrive.
What is the CatholicCare’s Mission Statement?
In the footsteps of Christ, we promote dignity, strengthen families and connect communities.
When was CatholicCare founded?
1994
What was the purpose of starting CatholicCare?
In November 1940 four women, Norma Parker, Elvira Lyons, Constance Moffitt and Eileen Davidson wrote to the Archbishop of Sydney, Norman Thomas Gilroy, recommending that a ‘Catholic Welfare Bureau’ be established.
They knew that the disadvantaged, distressed and devalued in society deserved the best possible care from the Church. They believed a Catholic Welfare Bureau would ensure that children, families and individuals in need were given dignified help. Instead of being given pity, handouts and benevolence, they would be given opportunities and justice.
Who is currently in charge of Catholic Care?
