Q

Differences of suppression
(response-focused strategy) in terms of experience and expression of emotions

A

Suppression (Response-Focused Strategy) - inhibition of an outward
behavior/expression of a triggered emotion (i.e facial, gestural, or verbal expressions like laughs)

ex. my friend and I applied for the same position i did not get it but she did i pretend im happy for her but deep inside i’m sad and a bit envious

Effect on Experience of Emotion: has no direct impact on the
experience of emotion; focuses on behavioral inhibition of
emotion and occurs later in the emotion-generative process

Effect on Expression of Emotion: Reduces both negative and
positive emotion expression
