A major segment of the Fire Department consisting of
Divisions, Sections, Officers, and employees
Bureau
A segment of the Fire Department consisting of sections,
officers, specialists, coordinators, and employees (i.e. Training, Fire
Prevention, Emergency Medical Services, Supply & Maintenance,
Office of Emergency Management, etc.).
Division
A location where primary business is conducted by the
Chief or a sub-division of the Department (i.e. Community Liaison Officer, Fiscal Manager, Chief’s Sr. Administrative Assistant, Medical Services Officer, etc.).
Office
A segment of the Fire Department consisting of officers or employees concentrating on a specific area, or focus.
Section
This person must provide City Manager a biennial proposed budget of funding needed for the Department’s operations for the ensuing two years in such a manner as prescribed by the City Manager.
The Fire Chief
Shall report directly through the Operations Deputy
Chief to the Chief of the Department
Fire Marshal
Shall develop training aids and coordinate the Community College Curriculum.
Commander, Training Division (Battalion Chief)
Shall be the liaison with local and regional EMS agencies, hospitals, ambulance companies, etc
Commander, Emergency Medical Division (Battalion Chief)
Shall be responsible for the placement and inventory of
equipment on apparatus, as prescribed by department
policy.
Captain/ EMS Administrative Officer/Acting Captain
Shall be responsible for ensuring that a performance log is maintained on each person assigned to his/her
company and that a Performance Evaluation is completed at the
specified time
Captain/ EMS Administrative Officer/Acting Captain
While on duty, is responsible for maintenance and
inventories of their equipment, assigned personnel,
station, and apparatus.
Lieutenant/MSO/Acting Lieutenant
have the authority of the Battalion Commander when performing duties on behalf of the Battalion Commander.
Staff Assistant
may assume command at emergencies or by special knowledge and expertise as related to the incident
Officer of the same rank
are authorized and it shall be their
duty, to order additional resources such as: additional
firefighters, officers, and companies or equipment when deemed necessary in their judgment
Incident Commander
the only individual who is authorized to request or release resources for an incident. This authority may be delegated, but always remains their responsibility
