Arteries & Veins (08) Flashcards
How does the Aorta exit in systemic circulation?
How does the Aorta exit in systemic circulation?
Ascending Aorta branches the
right and left coronary arteries
Aortic Arch 3 branches
brachiocephalic artery, left common carotid, left subclavian artery
Branches from descending aorta
Thoracic aorta, abdominal aorta
what does the brachiocephalic artery serve?
right side of head and neck and upper limb
what does the thoracic aorta serve?
muscles of thoracic region as well as conducting tubes that lead to lungs
what does the renal serve?
kidneys
what does the abdominal aorta serve?
liver
what does the common iliac serve?
lower limbs
what does the internal iliac serve?
pelvic region, bladder, reproductive organs
what does the external iliac serve?
lower limbs
what does the deep femoral serve?
thigh
what does the external carotid artery serve?
face, bones, skin
what does the internal carotid artery serve?
inside of head (brain, eyes, parts of nose)
what does the vertebral artery serve?
cerebellum, parts of brainstem
what does the common carotid artery serve?
right side of head and neck
what does the subclavian serve?
upper arm region, shoulders, chest and back. as it moves through regions of the arm it changes name
Major veins
coronary sinus, superior vena cava, inferior vena cava
where does the coronary sinus serve blood to?
heart
where does the superior vena cava serve blood to?
head, neck, thorax, upper limbs
where does the inferior vena cava serve blood to?
abdomen, pelvis, lower limbs
3 types of veins
superficial, deep, sinuses
where does the hemiazygos drain to
azygos
where does the azygos drain into
drains thoracic region into superior vena cava
