Arm OIA Flashcards
Trapezius Origin
Occipital Bone (medial third of superior nuchal line), EOP, SPs C7-T12, Ligament. Nuchae
Trapezius Insertion
Lateral third of clavicle, acromion, spine of scapula
Trapezius Action
Upper: scapular elevation, ipsilateral side flexion of the cervical spine, contralateral rotation of the cervical spine, cervical spine extension
Middle: scapular retraction
Lower: scapular depression
Upper & Lower: upward rotation
Rhomboid Major Origin
SPs of T2-T5
Rhomboid Major Insertion
Medial border of scapula from just inferior to scapular spine to inferior angle
Rhomboid Major Action
Retracts and downward rotation of scapula, slightly elevates the scapula
Rhomboid Minor Orign
SPs of C7-T1
Rhomboid Minor Insertion
Superior part of medial border of scapula
Rhomboid Minor Action
Retracts and downwardly rotates the scapula, slightly elevates the scapula
Levator Scapula Origin
posterior tubercle of TPs C1-4
Levator Scapula Insertion
superior part of medial border of scapula
Levator Scapula Action
Elevates the scapula, downward rotation of scapula, ipsilateral side neck flexion, ipsilateral cervical rotation
Latissimus Dorsi Origin
SPs T6-T12, thoraco-lumbar fascia, iliac crest, inferior 3-4 ribs, inferior angle
Latissimus Dorsi Insertion
Floor of intertubercular sulcus of humerus
Latissimus Dorsi Action
Shoulder IR, ADD, EXT, HABD, scapular retraction, depression, downward rotation
Serratus Anterior Origin
External lateral margins of ribs 1-8 (or 1-9 or 1-10)
Serratus Anterior Insertion
Anterior surface of medial border of scapula
Serratus Anterior Action
scapular protraction, scapular depression, upward rotation of scapula, active during forced inspiration
Subclavius Origin
1st rib (junction between rib and its cartilage)
Subclavius Insertion
inferior surface of medial 3rd of clavicle at the subclavian groove
Subclavius Action
depresses clavicle, depresses scapular, protracts scapula
Pectoralis Minor Origin
Ribs 3-5 near costal cartilages
Pectoralis Minor Insertion
Coracoid process of scapula
Pectoralis Minor Action
raises ribs 3-5 during forced inspiration when scapula is fixed, protracts scapula, downward rotation of scapula, depresses scapula, stabilizes scapula
