Aqueous Solutions Flashcards
Solute
the substance that is dissolved in the solution.
Solvent
The substance in which another substance is dissolved, forming a solution.
solution:
a homogeneous mixture of solute and solvent.
dissociation:
the splitting of an ionic compound into its ions.
ionisation:
the reaction of a molecular substance with water to produce ions.
electrolyte:
is a substance that can conduct electricity by forming free ions
when molten or dissolved in solution
Precipitate
A precipitate is the solid that forms in a solution during a chemical reaction.
Tests for chloride 2
Nitric acid (unchanged)
Test for carbonate and chloride
Silver nitrite (white)
Test for carbonate 2 silver nitride
