Q

What are assumptions of SLT?

A
  • Learning occurs through observation and imitation of role models.
  • Agrees with behaviourists that much behaviour is learnt through experience.

Q

What was conclusion of Bandura doll study?

A

Supports SLT as it shows children imitate behaviour of role model even if the behaviour is aggressive.

Q

What is meditational processes?

A

Observational learning uses cognitive processes such as memory. These processes occur between stimulus and response.

16
Q

What is Attention?

A

Individual needs to pay attention to behaviour and its consequences and form a mental representation of behaviour.

17
Q

What is Retention?

A

Storing observed behaviour in LTM where it can stay for a long period of time.

18
Q

What is reproduction?

A

Individual must be able to reproduce observed behaviour.

19
Q

What is motivation?

A

Individual must expect to receive the same positive for imitating behaviour.

20
Q

What are strengths of SLT?

A
  • Has experimental support (Bobo doll).
  • Can be used to explain influence of media on behaviour.
  • More complete explanation of human behaviour.
21
Q

What are negatives of SLT?

A
  • Doesn’t take influence of biological factors on behaviour into account.
  • Most support comes from lab experiments. Lack of ecological validly.
