What is the social approach?
Aspects of human behaviour that involve an individuals relationship to others, groups, society and culture.
What is the cognitive approach?
Study of the role of mental processes in human behaviour such as perception, memory, attention, language and problem solving.
What is the learning approach?
It proposes that we are born on ‘blank slate’ and all behaviours are learn from the environment and acquire by learning experiences.
What is operant conditioning in the learning approach?
States that we learn through consequences.
What is the social learning theory in the learning approach?
We learn through observations and imitation of behaviour of people we view as role models
What is the psychodynamic approach?
We posses innate ‘drives’ (or ‘instincts’) that (energize) our minds to motivate behaviour as we develop through our lives.
What is the three-part personality in the psychodynamic approach?
ID, ego, and super-ego
What is our ID in the three-part personality?
Driving us to satisfy selfish urges
What is our Ego in the three-part personaloty?
Act rationally, balancing the ID and the super-ego
What is our super-ego in the three-part personality?
Concerned with keeping to moral norms.
What is the biological approach?
All thoughts, feelings and behaviour ultimately have a biological cause.
What is the functioning of neurotransmitters in the biological approach?
One way messages are passed within the brain
What is the hormonal transmission in the biological approach?
Another way ,messages are passed around the body.
What are genetic influences in the biological approach?
Human gene have recently been decoded, which means that all genes have been indentified
What are parts of the brain and their functions in the biological approach?
limbic system- linked to aggression.
hippocampus- where short-term memory occurs.
