What is the humanistic approach?
the belief that behaviour is a result of experiences
What is maslow’s approach?
a ‘person-centered’ approach - experiences more important than rules/laws in psychology

What is self actualisation in maslow’s hierachy?
morality, creativity etc
What is esteem in maslows hierachy?
self esteem, confidence
What is love/belonging in maslows hierachy?
friendship, family etc
What is saftey in maslows hierachy?
security
What is physiological needs in maslows hierachy?
food, water, sleep etc
What is client-centered therapy?
everyone has an ‘ideal self’ which is comparent to a ‘self concept’
According to client centered therapy, what is happiness based on?
the congruence between the ideal self and self concept
What are conditions of worth?
conditions that people believe significant others put on them that they have to meet in order to be accepted
What is the research support for conditions of worth?
individuals who experience conditional positive regard are likely to display more false self behaviours
What is conditional positive regard?
when certain conditions have to be met in order to recieve love and acceptance
What is false self behaviour?
doing things to meet other’s expectations even though they clash with their own values
